I got the opportunity to have a family day and see Shutter Island. I have gotta give it to Scorcese, that guy is amazing. The story was well told and it was filmed beautifully. This fiery scene above below was one of my favorites, as well as a moment with Leo and a Nazi soldier. The acting was amazing and I think Leo moves up my ranks in acting with every movie that he does. That being said the film was the film was incredibly predictable and at one point gives a over simplification to the plot. Overall though great film!

Capstone Project. Sweet Dreams, Night Terrors.

This is a sneak peak into my process of art for my 2010 Capstone Project entitled
Sweet Dreams, Night Terrors. The project is on dreaming, particularly associated with the feeling of being caught in a dream, or a lucid dream. Through it I intend to blur the lines of the real world and the dream world, while defining each of them as separate entities. I chose this topic because sometimes life is just as unpredictable as the real world. Many of the things that were said and done and happened to me in this past year were so shocking that I often was sure if I was awake or dreaming and hoped that I would wake up from it. Sometimes the dream world made more since to me then the real world. I intend on using some of the visual cues associated with lucid dreaming to direct the viewer to determine whether the image they are viewing is the real world or dream world while other will be flat out bizarre recreations of recent dreams I have had.

Frankenweenie.

This was one of my favorite movies when I was a little boy. I could definitely relate to Victor (Bastian from the Never Ending Story) and his love for his dog and wanting to bring it back when he died. Frankenweenie  ended up getting Burton fired from Disney because they thought it was too scary but obviously he was doing something right as he has now signed several multi million dollar deals with Disney including a stop animation version of Frankenweenie coming soon.

Yo Adrianne!

I decided to watch one of my top movies tonight, Rocky. I love this movie. I'm not sure what it is that is so special. Maybe seeing the underdog finally get a chance at something greater than himself. I can relate to this in so many ways. I didn't grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth and because of that had to work harder than everyone else. Maybe it is the love story. Rocky knew Adrian was the one, and even when she wouldn't give him the time of day all he tried to do was make her laugh, and show her that he loved her. Maybe its Apollo Creed because that guy is just a badass! I swear if I get a guard dog I'm gonna name it Apollo Creed.
Rocky may not be the brightest, but has a good heart.
This ice skating scene was the inspiration for several dates of mine which again shows how much this scene means to me. It was Rocky and Adriannes's first date.

Shutter Island.

One of my most anticipated films of the year so far by the great Martin Scorcese, director of some of my personal favorites Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. I can't wait to see Shutter Island! I have been tracking this one for about a year now.
