Just Like A Star.

Sometimes a certain song, melody, or artist just happens to find its way into my mind. Yesterday when I was practicing my guitar (one week strong!) , I had to pause because somehow a song from Corinne Bailey Ray found me .One of my roommates, Alfon, introduced me to her music a few years back.  Just Like A Star is a beautiful song with an equally beautiful video. In fact her self titled album is one of my all time favorites. Its one of the few albums you can listen to all the way through and enjoy every song. Another favorite is "Til it happens to you"..deep lyrics... "I used to hear those violins playing heart strings like a symphony."

I decided to sketch today... something I thought I had given up the will to do. I have not done a sketch for maybe one year now. It seems the sadly we are so immersed in our computer age of Facebook and Photoshop that we rarely embrace the tactile skills we all have, in this case actually pressing the charcoal against the paper. Sadly with my lack of practice, I've made  Mr. Brando's face an unrecognizable figure, but will forever remain with the late actor is a list of films that will forever remain in our hearts and minds. Everyone of his performances are as captivating as the last, but my personal favorite has to be "A Streetcar Named Desire." It has a timeless element and while you know that the movie takes place a long time ago the movie feels fresh and the conflict is ever present. Don't even get me started on other masterpieces... "Apocalypse Now" "Last Tango In Paris" and "The GodFather" series. Surprisingly I've never seen "The Wild One" though, which I'm sure I would love. I'm sure I'll get to it very soon!

Irish Whiskey

I swear the latest whiskey commercials are marketed directly to me. I really like the tale of Jameson and his barrel of whiskey. Instant Classic.

Revolutionary Road.

No one forgets the truth, Frank, they just get better at lying.

I remember when I first saw this movie and the impact it had on me. All my fears, all my excuses, had to be pushed aside if I wanted to go through with the plans I had at the time. Re-watching this movie  brings back the same feeling I had when I first saw this movie. I never want to be anything like Frank Wheeler.
Revolutionary Road is hard for me to watch, but I would recommend it to anyone. It's realness is something we can all relate to, even if its something we may not always want to see or here. It's as if it is almost too real. But thats the very quality that makes it so interesting.

Common is a lyrical genius. Pair him with Kanye West and John Mayer and you got a unique sound all its own. And the women in the video are flawless!!! Dam.

Trail Blazing.

A picture I took of a long, winding path near my house.

Amelie. Romantic.

At least you'll never be a vegetable- even artichokes have hearts.
It's hard to believe that just yesterday, on Christmas Day was the first time I watched Amelie. While I was at the rental store, scowering the racks to find it, I was instantly greeted by an employee from the store who gave me their seal of approval for my choice. The woman at the register could not stop raving about Amelie. As I left and peered down at the box, it boldly reads, "She'll change you life."
I came home with one question on my mind... would Amelie live up to the hype that was building, was it really that good. The answer is yes, and the film is a life changer. It documents the story of a young woman named, Amelie, and her efforts as a new do-goooder. Not only was it filmed beautifully, the story was well interwoven, and all of the elements worked. Amelie really makes you think about life and love and how to two subjects are so interconnected and essential to us. It also leave to thought how much we take for granted and how the people we pass by everyday on the street, could be your next friend, love, or foe for that matter. By far the most romantic film I've ever seen, Amelie will change your life.

Merry Christmas Eve.

I had some free time earlier today and decided to go shoot a few shots outside of my parent's house in Temecula. Theres something so interesting about the colors outside during the Fall/Winter. I'm still not quite used to it being so nice outside during Christmas. It was probably 68 degrees here out in Southern California which is no where near the freezing temperatures I grew up with in Columbus, Ohio. I wouldn't mind having a white Christmas again, but for now a Southern California Christmas will have to do!

Peggy Sirota.

Peggy Sirota has to be one of my favorite photographers out there. I have seen her work time and time again in GQ and it always impresses me. Two of my favorite shoots that I have seen of hers, is of Shia Laboeuf and James Marsden. The photo's have great movement in them and look like they were a lot of fun to shoot, both from the photographer and the subject. I like the shoot of Shia Labeouf, they contain two elements of his personality that often seem to duel themselves out when we see him on the screen, the comedian side, and a much more serious side. In the photo where he is eating the burger(as shown above) I feel like we get a taste of both personalities in one photo.
Amazing work.

I Will Miss You The Flight of the Conchords

I can't believe The Flight won't be returning for a third season, but I'm sure this wont be the last we hear from them.

Me and a friend of mine are DIE HARD Flight of the Conchords fans. With every episode came a list of quotes, songs, and jokes that we cycled through every single day probably to the point of overkill! One of us even picked up an atrocious version of a New Zealand accent. Every aspect of this show is just so perfect.. the videos are imaginative and inventive. It has a sort of hand made quality that makes you wish you were apart of their fictional world. Brett and Jemaine are the funniest duo ever, and side characters such as Murray, Mel, and Dave add to the nonstop laughter.

Lost & Found.

I recently got the opportunity to view the "Lost and Found" installation art exbition held by the students for the Process of Art Class at California State University San Marcos. I went in support of some of my fellow artists and friends, David Banks, Lauryn Franklin, Felipe Carrillo, and Marilyn Huerta amongst many others. The show was a success!

I took these pictures with my Verizon BlackBerry Tour of some of my favorite pieces.

This is one of the main viewing rooms for the gallery.

This was one of my favorite pieces in the show entitled "You Are Free, And That Is Why You Are Lost" . It was made by Amanda Bard and Lauryn Franklin which showed the young girls walking through various empty spaces. I liked it because its objective was to be subjective and leave interpretation open to the viewer.

This piece by Charm was an amazing photograph. The simplicity and color realy made it pop on its canvas medium.

Dmo. The Album Release

I recently got the opportunity to work with Local Celeb artist and good friend of mine, Dwayne "Dmo" Hines. To hype the anticipation of his latest album Local Celebrity we did a photoshoot to start things right. Then it was off to the release party at the Metaphor Cafe for his appearance. Local rapper Nonsense was present to make a guest appearance along with the fan base. The homies from Extraordinary Productions,David Banks and Desmond Pailet   covered the event complete with a red carpet upon entrance and photography with the artists!

Here are some of my shots from the performance.

Do you like R and B?
How about rock?
Hip Hop?
Chris Brown's latest venture Graffiti has it all in one.
I'm not one to judge Chris Brown, I don't know him. So if your able to put the media aside and listen to the music it's a solid album and I think some of his best work.
My personal favorite is "So Cold and I'll Go"

Enough Said.

Signed. Sealed. Delivered.

Today marks the official day that I sent of my letters of admissions to Graduate School. It was a long process, but its good time finally have everything out of the way. Its a werid feeling to put everything you've worked on so diligently over the last four years and send it for critque. Welcome to the "real world". I can't say that I didn't think things would be going different for me this year, but I think I'm ready and now can handle anything that comes at me...the good and the bad. Those letters basically seal my destiny. Wish me luck.

Old Number 7

I dont know what it is about this commercial that I like. The story line? The animation? The narration and music? I'm not sure what it is about this commercial that I like, but it sure makes me want to relax with a glass of Jack Daniels Whiskey.

You Basterd!

Quentin Tarantino never surprises me when it comes to a making great flick. Pair him with my favorite actor, Brad Pitt and you get "Inglorious Basterds" had everything I could ask for in a movie. The dialogue was incredibly engaging, the actors were well chosen, and the level of suspense throughout it, was unlike anything I've ever felt before. I found myself shaken in my seat at home eagerly anticipating the suspense. And Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa is absolutely terrifying!

Go out and rent or by this movie!
